Visit to Kidzania

Event Date: 12 December 2024

The Visit to Kidzania aimed to provide an inclusive educational experience for neurodivergent students and their siblings from B40/M40 family backgrounds. Through collaboration with partners Happy and Lovely Kids Therapy Centre, Utopia Learning Centre, Let Them Shine organized this event to enhance social, cognitive, and life skills via hands-on learning activities.

The visit also aimed to foster social interactions and teamwork in a supportive environment, promoting inclusivity, empowering neurodivergent students through engaging experiences, and aligning practical skills development with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.

A total of 28 neurodivergent students and their siblings, aged 4 to 18 years, participated, supported by 16 caregivers and 9 teachers who ensured tailored assistance throughout the visit. The event was hosted at Kidzania, an interactive city designed for children, where participants experienced various professions through engaging role-play activities, including roles such as Police Officer, Bomba (Firefighter), Dispatcher, Baker, Packer, Hotel Service Crew, and Pilot.

Planning for the event included careful consideration of the diverse needs of participants, ensuring that each student was assigned to an appropriate group with the necessary support. Feedback from caregivers and teachers showed a high level of enthusiasm, with students demonstrating increased confidence and communication skills through their engagement in activities. The visit significantly contributed to their social and cognitive development in a fun and interactive setting.

Looking ahead, Let Them Shine plans to continue building partnerships and organizing future events that focus on ongoing support for neurodivergent learners, including follow-up activities to reinforce skills learned during the visit and outreach to create more hands-on learning opportunities. We sincerely thank Kidzania for generously providing free passes for all students and teachers, a partnership crucial for facilitating this meaningful experience.
